We went to the grocery store to pick up a “few” items and I felt like SCREAMING. I’m usually in the grocery store longer than the hour that we had been in there, but for some reason I just wanted to get out of that store and get home. Maybe my mood had something to do with me not getting enough sleep, but it was there and the desire to get this shopping trip done in record time was crucial.

I think my lack of sleep is effecting my mood. Will go to bed sooner tonight.

Confession

Chapter 4

     “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13. {SC 37.1}

God doesn’t require that we do anything complex to gain mercy, only that we confess. When one does wrong, they are to acknowledge their sin and ask for forgiveness. “Those who have not humbled their souls before God in acknowledging their guilt, have not yet
fulfilled the first condition of acceptance. If we have not experienced that repentance which is not to be repented of, and have not with true humiliation of soul and brokenness of spirit confessed our sins, abhorring our iniquity, we have never truly sought for the forgiveness of sin; and if we have never sought, we have never found the peace of God. The only reason why we do not have remission of sins that are past is that we are not willing to humble our hearts and comply with the conditions of the word of truth.” {SC 37.4}

     True confession is always of a specific character, and acknowledges particular sins. They may be of such a nature as to be brought before God only; they may be wrongs that should be confessed to individuals who have suffered injury through them; or they may be of a public character, and should then be as publicly confessed. But all confession should be definite and to the point, acknowledging the very sins of which you are guilty. {SC 38.1}

     Confession will not be acceptable to God without sincere repentance and reformation. There must be decided changes in the life; everything offensive to God must be put away. This will be the result of genuine sorrow for sin. {SC 39.1}

     When sin has deadened the moral perceptions, the wrongdoer does not discern the defects of his character nor realize the enormity of the evil he has committed; and unless he yields to the convicting power of the Holy Spirit he remains in partial blindness to his sin. His confessions are not sincere and in earnest. To every acknowledgment of his guilt he adds an apology in excuse of his course, declaring that if it had not been for certain circumstances he would not have done this or that for which he is reproved. {SC 40.1}

     The humble and broken heart, subdued by genuine repentance, will appreciate something of the love of God and the cost of Calvary; and as a son confesses to a loving father, so will the truly penitent bring all his sins before God. And it is written, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. {SC 41.2}

People have responded to the death of Michael Jackson in different ways and today was no exception. I didn’t think that I would be the one to get too emotional and cry. But watching the memorial service and realizing that he was indeed someone’s son, father, brother put a humanizing feel to it all. Realizing someone had lost their loved one and this memorial was final, brought me to tears. I cried throughout the memorial and ended up with a major headache. I thought the service was well-produced and done with great dignity and respect.

One of my favorite moments during the memorial was when Al Sharpton told Michael’s children, “There wasn’t nothing strange about your daddy. What was strange was what your daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it.” I also liked when Pastor Smith did the benediction saying, “you were the King of Pop, but now you have to bow to the King of Kings.” Marlon spoke well, also, hoping that people will now leave you alone.

I pray for this family, especially the children. I hope they remember to keep God first.

Happy Birthday Cane

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named NotBob from NotBob’s Bits. He admits that he “lifted it” but does not say from where. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all us thieves!
