Sometimes my brother Buddie does things that make you go, “hmm.” Well, it happened once again last night. We go to Kroger’s gas station and as usual Buddie gets out to pump the gas. I’m sitting in the car, really not paying attention to him, but I am aware of this constant beeping coming from the pump. I pay it no mind, until I see Buddie heading towards the cashier and I’m thinking, “the pump must not be working”. He comes back to the car and I ask what’s going on and the weirdest thing comes out of his mouth: “I was scanning my library card instead of the Kroger plus card.” I’m like, “what, you really are cuckoo”. That brother of mine keeps me cracking up.

Thanks Forever 21

I haven’t been shopping in forever, but that’s about to change. While surfing the internet trying to buy Christmas gifts last month, I found my new FAVORITE store, Forever21. The prices are right and the clothes are chic and really cute. The selections offered are just what I needed to get me back in the habit of my favorite pasttime, shopping. I bought this baaad red peacoat and a white and black cowl neck belted dress and I am soooooo excited to wear them and show off. Forever21 is bringing the thrill and fun back to shopping.

1. If you could say anything you wanted to say to George Bush, what would you say?                                                                                                       I watched your farewell speech you gave in Midland, TX after leaving DC and I now look at you differently. I disagree with things that you did, but I do respect you as a person.

2. If you had to be the mother of Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, who would you choose and why?                                                                         Britney Spears. Not exactly why I chose her, I just feel that she needs the love and someone to just listen to her. Really listen and be there for her as a person.

3. You get to be Queen for a day. The kids are all taken care of, and you can spend as much money as you want. What do you do all day?              I don’t have kids, so that’s not an issue, but I would spend the day being pampered; massages, pedicures, manicures, etc. and shopping til I dropped.

4. Is there a song that brings tears to your eyes every time you hear it? If so, which one?                                                                                                         The Corinthian Song (I’m a Vessel) by Micah Stampley

5. A fairy taps you on the shoulder and tells you that you can either have a perfect face or a perfect body for the rest of your life. Which do you choose?
Body. This question is deep.

6. If you could live any place in the world and money was no object, where would you live and why?                                                                                 I’m not really sure, but it would be in the United States, just not sure where. Hopefully somewhere quiet, but close enough to a mall.
7. What is your biggest regret in life?                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Not calling to tell my principal I would be late.

8. If you could go back and visit one person in your life who is now dead, and ask one question, what would that question be and why would you ask it?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             I don’t have an answer for this.

9. If you had the choice to age forward (like we are now) or aging backwards (think Benjamin Buttons) which would you choose and why?             Age forward, I like this process

10. What will the epitaph on your headstone say?                                                                                                                                                                              Daughter, Sister, Teacher, Friend

Sabbath Scripture: 2 Timothy 1: 3-11

3 Timothy, I thank God for you—the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 4 I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.

5 I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. 9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. 11 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.

Key may not know what he’s going to be when he grows up, but NuNu is determined to be a cheerleader. Don’t know what brought about this, but there are strong feelings toward this career/occupation.

On another note, just a reflection of the past week’s events:

  • I’m proud that Barack Obama is the President of the United States of America. A lot of people went through a lot of different things over the years in order for this to happen and I’m glad that as a country we were able to do this.
  • Although President Obama is now in office, this by no means says that the work is done. Equality and justice should be the driving force for a better nation.
  • Service to others seems much more important to me. I desire to do more for others.
  • I’m glad George Bush was elected President. In a way, he made it possible for Barack Obama.

President Barack Obama, right, is congratulated by daughter ...

Today the United States of America got a new president, President Barack Obama. There are no words to truly express how I feel and what the moment meant to me and so many others. I am hopeful that things will change and for the better. President Obama has inspired a generation and touched many of lives, but the inspiration should not end today, but begin and continue on. We Are One and together we will and can get through anything.
