Fish Funny

Buddie came in my room yesterday and said so proudly, “we got whitening fish and grits” and left out.

I was left wondering “what in the world is whitening fish.”

Sometimes my brother Buddie does things that make you go, “hmm.” Well, it happened once again last night. We go to Kroger’s gas station and as usual Buddie gets out to pump the gas. I’m sitting in the car, really not paying attention to him, but I am aware of this constant beeping coming from the pump. I pay it no mind, until I see Buddie heading towards the cashier and I’m thinking, “the pump must not be working”. He comes back to the car and I ask what’s going on and the weirdest thing comes out of his mouth: “I was scanning my library card instead of the Kroger plus card.” I’m like, “what, you really are cuckoo”. That brother of mine keeps me cracking up.

So much has occurred this week that I thought I would write about being thankful for my father and mother.

I’m so thankful that my father is doing well. After the scare that he gave us, meaning the family, earlier this week, I’m glad he is in essence okay. Truthfully I was never scared of the events that happened or overly concerned. When my mom told me that he was sick, I prayed about it and really didn’t think about it much. Like my brother was saying, “Daddy is okay, it’s just the situation.”  I’m thankful that even while all this was going on, my father never strayed from his humor. Not sure if it was a front for us, children and the wifey, but he was always in good spirits.

Not only am I thankful for my father, but my mother. She is one strong woman and her strength is shown daily, but when family is on the block her strength comes through like never before. She trudges even when I know she doesn’t feel like it. I’m thankful for all she does for me personally as well as the household.

I’m also thankful for family and friends who stepped up to assist, whether it was sending up prayers or lending a bed, when we came asking without notice.

As my dad says, “We are blessed and highly favored.”

Jay: Woof, woof and other dog sounds.
Mom: Where y’all get all this barking and howling from?
Me: Ma, what’s going on? Whatcha talking about?
Mom: All this barking and stuff. I don’t know where they get that mess from.
Me: Who?
Mom: All of them. Jay, Buddie…everytime you see Kristopher he’s howling and barking. pause They say they get it from Buddie.
Me: What they do?
Mom starts barking and howling.
Me: lol
Mom: Now they have me barking.

He’s back!!!!!!! Yes, my brother’s back. Seems like he has been gone FOREVER. Yes, there are positives and neatives to his returning, but for the most part, at the current moment, I’m glad he’s back. He doesn’t know it yet, but I have plans for him already…lol. Even though he is back, I see myself still calling on the other brother. I’ll get accustomed to him back.

I also missed my dad and mom when they were gone. Am I a baby or spoiled or something? Naw, I don’t so. 🙂 I’m just grateful the surgery was a success and he’s doing well. Thank the Lord from whom all blessings flow.

Being Thankful

Today as I was preparing to go to mid-week bible study, I had my brother doing a few things for me. As I watched him, I felt the need to just say I LOVE YOU. He does so much for me and I am so thankful for him. Not only am I thankful for him and his help, but for the rest of my family also. They do so much for me and I’m thankful for them daily. We take things for granted and only when they are gone do we realize how important they are/were. Find something to be thankful for daily.
